Fasting Without Suhoor? Here’s My Take
What do you think when you hear that someone skipped suhoor during fasting? Do you feel bad for them, or wonder, “Why didn’t they wake up to eat?” Let’s be real: fasting without suhoor is no joke. If you're not used to it, the hunger and thirst can feel overwhelming. And trust me, I’ve been there.
I’ll admit it, I’m not a morning person. Waking up early to prepare suhoor has never been my favorite part of the fasting month. Honestly, waking up before dawn is hard enough already. That’s why, more often than not, I end up skipping suhoor altogether.
The first time I fasted without suhoor? Whew, it was rough. Suddenly, every smell feels ten times stronger, every fried snack or street food becomes a major distraction. Your stomach starts rumbling like a drum, and by midday, the real struggle begins. For me, the hardest part isn’t even the hunger, it’s the thirst. That dry, parched feeling? Definitely the biggest challenge.
But after a few days, I got used to it. Fasting without suhoor may be difficult at first, but once your body adjusts, it becomes manageable. In a weird way, it’s actually helped me practice more self-discipline, especially around food. Still, when it’s finally time to break the fast, there’s no waiting around for me. I go straight for water and food, no delay. After a whole day of fasting without any fuel, my body needs that instant relief.
Some people like to wait a little before eating, maybe for religious or health reasons, and that’s totally fine. But when I’m fasting without suhoor, I’m all about immediate recovery. That first sip of water feels like heaven!
Now, would I recommend skipping suhoor? Not really, not for everyone. I’ve gotten used to it after nearly four years of living on my own, but it’s not the easiest habit to maintain. On days when I’m not too lazy to get up, I’ll still make the effort to eat something. It really does make fasting easier.
So yeah, that’s my perspective. If you’ve ever skipped suhoor, I feel you. And if you haven’t, maybe give it a try once, just to see how strong your willpower is!
Warm regards :b
