PERSPECTIVE: Your friend is a K-POP fan?

Have you ever felt a little lost in a conversation because you don’t know much about K-POP? Well, K-POP has become a huge global phenomenon over the past decade. Lots of people, especially younger generations, love everything about it: the songs, the actors, the bands, and more. Many fans take pride in being part of the K-POP community and always stay updated with the latest trends.
This wave of K-POP isn’t just popular in Korea, it’s influencing the entire world. From my point of view, the Korean government benefits a lot from this craze. K-POP helps strengthen Korea’s diplomatic and economic relationships with other countries while promoting Korean culture worldwide. Interestingly, Korea doesn’t even need to spend a huge budget on tourism because K-POP itself draws visitors from all over the globe.
Remember the BTS meal? That was a brilliant marketing strategy that used K-POP’s popularity to boost sales. Honestly, I believe 8 out of 10 people today could be considered K-POP fans. But I’m not really one of them. I guess you could say I’m a bit unique in that way. Many of my friends admire K-POP idols, and while I understand why they find them attractive, they don’t exactly fit my idea of “handsome.” To me, they seem more cute than traditionally handsome.
I’m not very up-to-date on K-POP. To be honest, I probably know only about 2% of it, and that 2% is mostly about Lee Min Ho. When my college friends talk about K-POP, I usually just sit there quietly, not knowing what they’re saying. But that’s totally okay, I’m not the type to force myself to follow trends I’m not interested in.
Most of my college friends are really into K-POP, and sometimes I feel like I’m on the opposite side of the conversation. But in the end, that’s fine because everyone has their own tastes and interests.
Warm regards :b
