PERSPECTIVE: Your female friends can fix electrical problems?

Hey everyone, what's up?
Perspective

What do you think when you hear that one of your female friends can fix electrical problems?

Are you surprised and curious about how she does it? Or do you just think, “Oh, that’s pretty normal”? Honestly, it’s still quite rare to see women interested in electricity. Not many women study or work in electrical fields. Would you agree?

From my point of view, a lot of this comes down to traditional gender roles and how society thinks about them. Many people still underestimate women’s skills when it comes to fixing electrical stuff. I have to admit, I used to think the same way.

But here’s the thing: I actually enjoy fixing electrical problems, even though I don’t have formal training in electricity. I taught myself. Growing up, I spent a lot of time with my mom, so I got to learn how to deal with electrical issues at home. Before I knew how, my mom would usually call a neighbor to come fix things.

Now, I’m lucky because I can fix electrical problems on my own. That means we don’t have to bother the neighbors or spend money on something I can do myself. It’s definitely challenging, but it’s also a lot of fun. Honestly, I would have loved to become an engineer, but my studies didn’t lead me there. Still, I’m proud to have broken the stereotype that women can’t handle electrical work.

To me, women should be able to do anything. If you don’t know how to do something, just try it! You’ll learn and feel empowered. Don’t wait for help or spend money on something you could handle yourself. And just because something is seen as a “man’s job” doesn’t mean you should avoid it.

Let’s be strong, independent, and break those barriers. That’s my perspective.

Warm regards :b
