PERSPECTIVE: Has skin irritation?
Hey everyone, what's up?

What comes to your mind when you find out your friend has skin irritation?
To be honest, I used to think skin irritation wasn’t something that would ever happen to me, especially not from something as simple as cleaning dust! But life surprises us in funny ways. Have you ever seen those TV shows about people who are obsessed with cleaning? They scrub every corner, polish every surface, and make sure not a single speck of dust is left behind. Some of them even have professional careers, but cleaning is still their main passion. I’m honestly amazed by how dedicated they are to keeping things perfectly clean. Their homes might be the most bacteria-free places on earth!
Now, I’m not one of those people. I'm more of the “if it looks neat, that’s good enough” type. I appreciate cleanliness, sure, but I’m not cleaning the unreachable spots every weekend. So imagine my surprise when I ended up with skin irritation just from helping a friend clean her room. The room had been closed for two years, so you can probably picture how much dust was in there. I was just being a good friend, enthusiastic, yes, but not expecting anything serious to come from it.
I wore gloves while helping her, and after we finished, I washed my hands and went home. But a few hours later, I started feeling something weird. My hands became really itchy, and the sensation didn’t go away. In fact, the itching continued for two days, moving from one area of my hand to another. I tried oil, warm water, and other home remedies, but the discomfort stayed. That’s when I started searching online and saw something called a dust mite allergy. I shared what I found with my friend, and she agreed, it might actually be that.
My first reaction was, "What?! A dust mite allergy? Seriously?" I couldn’t believe it. It sounded so strange, especially for me as a woman. People might think, “Wait, you’re a woman and you can’t handle dust?” It felt like a weird twist, especially since I had only been helping out. So I went to the medical center to be sure, and the doctor confirmed it: I had skin irritation caused by a microscopic organism. Apparently, while cleaning all that long-neglected dust, my skin got exposed to something that triggered the reaction.
It turned out to be a kind of micro-animal that entered my skin, probably from the thick layers of dust in that room. I had to use a special cream every day and make sure I washed my clothes thoroughly with hot water. Thankfully, it wasn’t a severe case, and I started to recover well after a couple of weeks. But I’ll admit, it was the worst skin irritation I’ve ever had in my life, and it lasted for nearly two months.
The whole experience made me realize that it’s really important to clean yourself properly after cleaning a dusty area, especially if it hasn’t been touched in a long time. It also reminded me to take my skin seriously. Just because we don’t think something will affect us doesn’t mean it won’t. Our bodies have their own way of reacting to things, and sometimes, even doing something helpful can lead to unexpected outcomes.
So, that’s my perspective. If you ever help a friend clean a dusty space, wear gloves, wash thoroughly afterward, and maybe, keep some anti-allergy cream nearby, just in case!
