Company job or your own biz? The ultimate showdown!

How’s your life going? I hope you are still on track with your life goals. It is 2023, let’s be more excited about life! Just a reminder that you have to be resilient because ups and downs in life are common. Let’s talk about our work visions: do you want to work for a company or for yourself? I believe that is such an interesting question. We might still have a dilemma about this choice for a long-term career. Nonetheless, it is very important for us to decide as we near 25 years old whether to work for a company or for ourselves. As a graduate, this decision is absolutely challenging, and it concerns my future. For me, each of these options has clear advantages, particularly depending on the stages of our career.

There are numerous advantages to working in a company, especially in our early career. One of the advantages is that it provides the security of a regular paycheck and less responsibility than you would have if you were the owner of a company. If you own a company, you must come up with the finances to support the business. Thus, all of this indicates that it is better to work for a company in our early career so we can be more financially settled. Moreover, we can gain the knowledge and experience needed to start our own company in the future.

On the other hand, working for ourselves in our early career is very challenging but can be advantageous if we want to go into business. The main reason for starting a business is being able to decide the direction we want the company to go and to work for ourselves. However, only when we have gained enough knowledge and experience is it a good idea to start a business on our own. This is when you are ready to deal with all the responsibilities, pressure, and financial needs of owning a company.

In the end, nothing is more important to me than having my own company one day. However, what seems very clear to me now is that gaining knowledge and skills by working in a company during my early career is the best idea to prepare myself. In this situation, not only can I work with more security and less pressure, but I can also build my financial resources and learn from others. Then, I should be able to gain confidence and accumulate financial resources. I hope to eventually open my own company in the upcoming years. So, here’s my perspective.
